You know that planning is the key to success in business. Yet, sometimes it takes so much time to run a small business that there’s no time left to plan – for tomorrow, much less farther into the future.

Our February program – a business checkup – will help you key in on some of the challenges that are likely keeping you up at night, using up your time and energy, and help you think strategically about solutions that will help move your business forward. By recognizing the primary challenges you have and identifying some productive actions you can take, you’ll be able to fret less and focus more on the plan at hand.

We’ll start with a discussion led by Paul V. Kenney, Esq. of Kenney & Kenney, a longtime Medway Business Council member with which Paul has been associated for almost 30 years.  Paul will focus on business succession planning. He’ll review the various business forms – such as S-corporations – before delving into business valuation, estate planning, life insurance and cross purchase and entity purchase agreements.

You may not see transitioning your business as a priority right now. You may think there’s still plenty of time to get your ducks in a row. But what if there isn’t? Have you addressed all the legal issues necessary to ensure business partners, family and employees are protected should something happen to an owner or key employee? If you have set the plan in place, have you reviewed it recently to ensure it’s up-to-date and reflects your current objectives and situation?

Following Paul’s discussion, Ed Drozda, “The Small Business Doctor” of E & D Associates, will present a variety of business challenge topics and lead an interactive workshop to help you think creatively and brainstorm solutions to some of the issues facing your business. Ed wants to remind you that the health of your business is dependent upon your ability to diagnose the cause of your challenges. This workshop is a first step in helping you diagnose and effectively treat your business ills.

After more than 20 years in the healthcare industry Ed earned his certification as a business coach and transitioned to the world of small business. Ed has developed a unique perspective on the growth and success of small businesses. He believes that we all have the things we need to succeed. We just need to be aware of our capabilities and access and exploit them to the fullest.
