Can you give a little time for MBC?

Can you volunteer a bit of time to help MBC be more successful?

Let’s be honest.  These days many people hear the word volunteer, and they run the other way.  Why?  Because we all have busy lives and may already volunteer for other organizations.  It’s understandable why there can be a reluctance to raise your hand because you can’t make a full commitment, but what is a “full commitment”?  Could you give 30 minutes one or two times a month? Volunteering doesn’t mean giving up many hours a month.  Certainly, MBC does have some volunteer tasks that take a bit more commitment, but just  30 minutes would be valued by MBC, and it could have value for you and your business, too.

As a grass roots business organization, member involvement is critical to our future success and growth.  Being involved doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment and more hands makes the work lighter. Yes, there are some aspects of involvement that require a bit more than 30 minutes here or there during a month, but it all depends on you. Getting involved is a way to make your membership investment go further because when you’re involved, you get to meet more people and build relationships.

  • Outreach/Membership – We’d like to form a team of MBC Ambassadors, who basically talk up MBC and are willing to do outreach. Ambassadors would make, if you can commit to making some phone calls every so often to help with Membership development and outreach to current members, that would be great. One great thing about being an Ambassador is that it helps you network as you help MBC. Sometimes it’s tough to call on other businesses to talk about your own business, but if you’re calling to tell a business about something that can help them, it’s a great way to start a conversation.
  • Programming – It would be great to have a few people to help out with programming including:  1) Handling posts to our website to promote meetings   2) Handling online registrations    3) Taking pictures at events    4) Video taping events.  5) Program Idea development.  You don’t have to take on a whole bunch of tasks, but if you take on just one part then it can make the process easier for everyone.
  • Communications – Do you know how to use Mail Chimp? Are you a social media person? Are you good at writing? Are you good at Excel and managing databases?  These skills which you may already have could be put to great use with MBC, and it would make your contribution easier for you and beneficial to the group.

If you’d like to explore lending a little bit of your time and your talents to help our MBC continue to be vibrant, please contact Julie Dennehy.
