Member Spotlight: Community Kangaroo – Sharon Aigler

MBC Member and Community Kangaroo Owner/Founder Sharon Aigler (pictured front and center) with her Community Kangaroo contributing writers

I live just a “hop” outside Medway and taught biology at Medway High School for five years. I left to be home with my two young kids, which showed me the need for a company like Community Kangaroo.

I founded the media resource Community Kangaroo, which is a free website for parents in Boston’s MetroWest to find every family-friendly fair, festival, and storytime in their town and all neighboring towns.
I coordinate the efforts of eight editors scattered across the MetroWest (including right here in Medway) who seek out fun events and work collaboratively to create region-based calendars. We also release interactive maps of playgrounds, pools, splash pads, farms, sledding hills and more. We partner with local businesses to promote their family-friendly services through high-impact placements on our site and in our eagerly-anticipated weekly emails.

I love hearing from local parents who are so appreciative of the resources we provide. Knowing that we make parents’ lives easier, and help families find awesome things to do with their kids, makes all our efforts worthwhile!

I’m glad I joined Medway Business Council because it is wonderful to connect with the local businesses and organizations that provide services and programming for families. All the content on our site is there because others have created such exciting venues and events for us to pass along!

One fun fact that no one might know about me? In college, I competed in the steeplechase – a race more suited for horses than people!
